Teen driving lessons in Richmond, VA

For students under 18. Because under-18 road testing isn't available at the DMV, this is also where the license itself gets issued. Two options — the required course, and optional preparation for it.

Required for licensing

Teen behind the wheel

$425 complete program

7 periods driving and 7 periods observing another student, 50 minutes each. Observation isn't filler — watching another new driver make and correct the same mistakes is one of the fastest ways to learn them.

We'll contact you within one business day to schedule.

You must already have

  • The student is under 18 and holds a Virginia learner's permit
  • The classroom portion of driver education is complete — school, homeschool, or online
  • 45 hours of guided driving practice logged with a parent or legal guardian
  • Form DEC-1 or DTS 36 if driver education was done elsewhere
There are no exceptions to these requirements. They come from the Commonwealth, not from us. Haven't done the classroom course yet? You can take the 30-hour course online first.

When lessons run

Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm. If those hours don't work around school, VIP Perks ($149) adds 8:00–9:00am lessons, Saturdays, and priority scheduling.

What happens at the end

Road testing at the DMV is not available to under-18s in Virginia. Students who complete their lessons and pass the road test are issued a temporary driver's license by the instructor that day.

Completing lessons does not guarantee a license. Students with little or no driving experience will need additional lessons or practice, and we'll tell you plainly if that's where things stand.

Optional extra preparation

Private teen driving lessons

$595 7 private lessons

One-on-one lessons for teens who aren't ready for the graded course yet. Shaped around the individual student's skill level — a safe, supportive place to be a beginner.

Who this is for

  • Teens with fewer than 30 hours of guided driving practice
  • Students who need confidence before being graded
  • Anyone whose parent would rather not teach the basics

What we work on

  • Basic vehicle control
  • Safe turning and lane positioning
  • Parking techniques
  • Managing speed and space
  • Defensive driving habits
  • Preparing for guided practice and the behind-the-wheel requirement
These are separate from the seven required behind-the-wheel lessons and don't count toward licensing — but they're an excellent way to arrive ready for them.

When lessons run

Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, with the same VIP Perks ($149) option for early mornings and Saturdays.

Accessibility

What we can and can't accommodate

We're committed to high-quality instruction for every student, but we don't have the specialized facilities, equipment, or training to accommodate certain disabilities and impairments. If that applies to your child, we'd genuinely rather point you toward a school equipped to do it well — call us and we'll help.
