Who is eligible to rent a car for the Virginia DMV road test?

Every one of these is required — the DMV will turn you away otherwise:

  • At least 18 years old
  • A learner's permit held for 60 days or more
  • Adequate driving experience
  • A completed CSMA-19 form — we'll send it to you when you register, so you can fill it in and bring it with you
  • A scheduled appointment with us
Not available to students under 18. Road testing at the DMV isn't offered to under-18s in Virginia — teens test with their instructor instead, through teen behind-the-wheel training. This service also isn't available on Saturdays.

What's included

Before the test you'll get an overview of the vehicle and a test drive to prepare — mirrors, controls, how it brakes, how big it feels from the driver's seat. Then you take the road test at a local DMV service center in it.

Pickup

Pickup is available within a 5-mile radius of the office at 3900 Westerre Parkway, Suite 300.

Renting the vehicle does not guarantee you'll pass the road test. It removes one variable, which is the unfamiliar car.

DMV Road Test Rental $195.00

Our company vehicle is available to rent to complete the road test at a local DMV service center. Use of the vehicle does not does guarantee that the student will pass the road test.  Students must be at least 18 years old, hold a learner's permit for 60 days and have adequate driving experience along with the CSMA form (CLICK TO DOWNLOAD completed.  Please note road testing at DMV is not available for students under the age of 18 in Virginia. This service is not available on Saturdays and you must have a scheduled appointment. Pickup is available within a 5-mile radius of the office. Students will also get an overview and test drive of the vehicle to prepare for the road test.
